Carriage House Bakery & More opened in October, 2006 in Avon, Ohio. Surviving a challenging economy and construction along Route 254, the owners made the decision to move in 2009 to a historic house right on the main thoroughfare. The move not only gave them much needed visibility along Detroit Rd. but allowed them to rework the mix of products based on their previous successful three years and what their customers had been asking for. Carriage House continues to work with several local and regional bakers and fine food merchants who want to have a retail presence in Avon but we have expanded our own bakery offerings as well as inaugurated soup and salad selections for take out lunches and lite dinners.
Co-Owner's, Dave and Kim Scribner, have extensive restaurant and administrative experience - all of which help them to creatively guide the business through the natural up and downs (and some unexpected bumps of late) in the food industry.
Baker and cook Kim keeps the "back of the house" humming along searching out new recipes and creating standby favorites for both our retail and wholesale customers. Also, a sales and marketing professional, Dave is responsible for website, email news and other forms of communication with our customers and customers-to-be as well as working on merchandising the store.
Marsha McDonough came on board with us in August, 2010. Initially, we hoped that she would be able to pick up the slack due to the growth of Carriage House. But her extensive experience in the food business for over 25 years has been a tremendous addition in the kitchen bringing with her new ideas and new recipes.
Every team needs a great pinch hitter and for us that is Jane Kauffman. Another one of our owners, Jane is flexible enough to help in both the baking and cooking as well as running the front of the house on a part time basis.
Carriage House is blessed with several other folks who have seen the dream of this business and have been willing to invest in it. Without them we could not have survived a very difficult economic environment and construction nightmare.
Finally, we cannot talk "about us" without mentioning our customers. We have an amazing group of loyal customers who are committed to buying locally and supporting the "small guy" whenever possible. We know that we have a responsibility to make sure to provide quality in return but want you to know how much we appreciate the patronage of all of those who have helped to make Carriage House so successful and kept us open and vibrant since 2006.
